ROM/ROMX PROGRAM INFORMATION

On April 26, 2008 the Dalmatian Club of America the Board of Governors unanimously approved a Registry of Merit Program. The purpose of the Registry of Merit (ROM) program is to honor the producing achievements of sires and dams that have produced a specific number of American champion offspring. By awarding a ROM title to deserving producers, it gives the club a permanent record of Dalmatian history and will serve as a learning tool in pedigree study and research. The ROM (Registry of Merit) or ROMX (Registry of Merit Excellent) title will be conferred upon Dalmatians that have produced a designated number of Champion progeny.

  • As of December 31, 2007, an initial list of top producing sires and dams will be grandfathered into the Registry of Merit Program. Owners of grandfathered ROM/ROMX sires and dams may request a printable email certificate for their records if they so wish.   Request Certificate

  • After December 31, 2007 the Registry of Merit Program will be available to ONLY Dalmatians with a Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) number obtained through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, Inc.

  • The eligible number of champion offspring for a ROM is 10 for sires and 6 for dams.

  • The eligible number of champion offspring for a ROMX is 20 for sires and 8 for dams.

  • Tabulation is based solely upon the number of American Champions produced by a dog or bitch. Offspring sired after the death of a stud dog or through the use of frozen semen will be counted towards the calculations of the ROM awards.

  • All statistics are taken from the published findings of the American Kennel Club, as obtained in a printed Progeny Report.

  • The submitter of a dog or bitch must be a member in good standing of the Dalmatian Club of America.

  • Dogs achieving ROM or ROMX status will be recognized in pedigrees by using the acronym, ROM or ROMX.

  • At this time, AKC does not recognize the title or program.

  • The burden of proof shall fall on the owner of the dog or bitch and requires a Progeny Report from the American Kennel Club.

  • In order to qualify for a ROM or ROMX, a Dalmatian Club of America member must fill out a special ROM or ROMX application indicating all pertinent information. The application may be obtained from the Registry of Merit Chair, the Corresponding Secretary, or downloaded from the club’s web site at: http://www.thedca.org/ROMROMX.html.

  • A yearly update of all ROM and ROMX recipients will be printed in the Spotter Top Spot Edition and will be listed on the club's web site permanently.

  • All updates to the ROM/ROMX statistics require an AKC Progeny Report and is responsibility of the dog's owner.

ELIGIBILITY

ROM Dam: 6 champion offspring to qualify.
ROMX Dam: 8 champion offspring to qualify.

ROM Sire: 10 champion offspring to qualify.
ROMX Sire: 20 champion offspring to qualify.

Sires and Dams through 2007 are grandfathered in. An application for those who qualify from 2008 forward will need to include an AKC Progeny Report and CHIC number.
